Save The Date Cards
Many people now send a save the date card before sending the main wedding invitation, these cards are sent about 6 to 8 months before the wedding and
do not necessarily need to be sent to all the quests you intend to invite but are a good way of ensuring that dear friends or family that you don’t want to
miss your wedding day are fully aware of the date (especially if you are getting married at a main holiday time of the year). Don’t forget that they can
also be used to announce your engagement if the wedding date isn’t too far into the future.
How many items will I need to order?
A common mistake is to order one invitation per person when in practice one invitation per household is all that is normally required - however it is a
good idea to add an extra 10% to the number you order to allow for mistakes when writing them and for any new names that you may add if some
guests cannot attend. Similar guidelines apply for other items such as reply and thank you cards, however when ordering Orders Of Service or Order Of
The Day cards we recommend that you treat them in the same way as a hymn book so one per person and don’t forget the church staff and friends who
may turn up un-invited.
Wedding Invitations
We recommend that they should be sent out 6 to 12 weeks prior to your wedding day and remember that if you are getting married during a busy
holiday period giving a lot of notice is a good idea (see also Save The Date cards above). We also recommend that when sending out your invitations you enclose other personal wedding information e.g. Maps, wedding present list, wedding
venue details etc. and also send reply cards with your invitations as this will ensure a quick response and the reply card can also include dietary
requirements for vegetarian or diabetic guests (as illustrated on our Lettering and Wording page).
Evening Invitations - these should also be sent out 6 to 12 weeks prior to the wedding day and again information such as maps and present lists can be
included with them. Do ensure that enough are ordered to cover guests you may have on a reserve list.
Thank You Cards
To both reduce the cost of your Thank You Cards and personalise your stationery further you may wish to send an A6 postcard to your guests bearing a small picture of yourselves on your big day for them to have as a keepsake - as in the example shown to the right.
I want to place an order but I don’t have the details for my Order Of Service or Menu?
Don’t worry as we do appreciate that these details may not be available until a few weeks before your wedding day and will work with you as your plans
progress.
Wedding Gift List and Photo Gallery Web Hosting Service
If your wedding gift list includes items that can be obtained from many suppliers then we can offer a web hosting service that your guests can use to
view and reserve items on your list. The webspace we provide will have its own unique web address - e.g. yournames.makemycards.co.uk - and can be
converted to a photo gallery after the big day that can be visited and viewed by your friends and family.
